LA
I'm moving to LA at the end of the summer, if anyone has any info on studios or an interest in partnering or has a scoop on places to live that don't break the bank please get in touch with me!

I have no clue about LA, but I just wanted to say I'm so happy for you both that the lawsuit is over!

I actually cannot believe it...!

Yay.

my apartment building is pretty decent and the price is great for what you get (all studios/1-br...$700-825)

the only downside is the area is sketchy. good news is the area is gated. it's in north hollywood.

I recommend the North Hollywood area..that's where I am too! It is pretty centrally located to all freeways, good restaurants, not too expensive, and it's actually a nice neighborhood.

There's a list of studios available in the city over here : www.myspace.com/pixincla - there's also a list of photo assistants, rental houses, set builders, digital techs on that page too. helpful photo community links.

As for places - downtown's kinda cheap, so is Echo Park, Silverlake and Los Feliz. Silverlake is hipster heaven while Echo Park is more hispanic/gentrification ... Highland Park and Atwater Village are a bit further away but not as bad - up-and-coming places. Hollywood - avoid it - it is overrun by tourists and I wouldn't recommend living there.

You can try www.westsiderentals.com or craigslist to figure out prices.

Just remember, the further away from the ocean, the cheaper it is. Figure about $800+ for single, $1,000+ for 1 bedroom around the 213/323/818 area. There might be some good deals in 626 but that's in Pasadena, Altadena, etc. It ain't cheap

good luck !

omg yaay! double the great news! the fight is over AND you're coming to the west coast. If you ever need a gender bending fetish boy/girl, please please think of me. :)

i'm down in san diego area, so not so familiar with LA areas and rent, but what i saw above tells me it's a little less costly to live in LA than here. Traffic SUX tho. Get motorcycles so you can lane-split or live close to work. :-|

Whenever i drive up there for work, i try to get there no earlier than 10 am and leaving no later than 3pm. :)
